Habtoor Grand Resort and Spa, 5 star
 

I wanted to stay by the Royal le Meridien beach, so chose the Habtoor Grand Resort. It's an impressive hotel with fascinating atmosphere. The airport less than 30 minutes away, the best shopping in Dubai (tax-free!) only 15 minutes away, this means that the whole city is easy to get to. From one end to the other, I walked most of it, and certainly saw more than I ever thought possible. The section of Arabia is really a world apart from the more Mediterranean regions. The specialties were delectable, particularly at the Italian restaurant, but I thought that's rather besides the point in a luxury hotel.
